You want to look the absolute best you can on the best day ever, your boudoir session. Of course you do! But, a big but, are you stressing about how you need to lose weight before? Please, for the love of Momma Julie, STOP! You don’t need to be a fitness guru to look absolutely incredible in front of my lens. You just need your most authentic you. With the right posing, a stunning wardrobe, and professional guidance, your body will look and feel amazing (because it already is!)
Let’s dive into why it’s important to NOT focus on weight loss before your boudoir shoot. Instead, let’s embrace the experience and focus on feeling confident, instead of worrying about how you’ll look in front of the camera!
Every Body deserves love
There is no such thing as a “perfect” body. How you feel about your body matters so much more than any societal standards. Every shape and size is beautiful and authentic, it’s time we start embracing and appreciating ourselves for who we really are. Rather than trying to fit into someone else’s ideal mold. Don’t get me wrong, please aspire for a healthier relationship with your body! We just advise you not to use your boudoir session as an excuse to obsess over the scale, in an unhealthy way. <3
Celebrate Your Body!
Your boudoir session is not about capturing you at your smallest, or trying to make you seem smaller. It’s about celebrating your body at any size. It’s all about how you feel. Women of all shapes and sizes have come in for boudoir sessions, that’s why our client closet includes sizes xs-6X. Because I have photographed clients sizes xs-6X! And these photos are stunning because they look like themselves. They’re not trying to fit into some cookie cutter idea of beauty defined by social media, they’re embracing their unique beauty.
Losing weight ≠ Happiness
Losing weight won’t automatically make you happier or more confident. You are not valuable based on your size! It can be tough to unlearn the toxic mindset tying our worth to the number on the scale. But I’m here to show you, your happiness doesn’t solely depend on your size. It’s never too late to shift that mindset and start embracing yourself just as you are.
We want you to be healthy
We don’t want you to go on an extreme diet or try to reach an unrealistic version of yourself. Weight naturally fluctuates, and that’s completely normal - it’s different from working towards your health and fitness goals in a balanced, sustainable way. If you're booking a session because you’ve reached a place where you’re happy with the way you look, that's amazing! But we don’t want you to book a session and then become consumed with unhealthy thoughts about your weight. If we capture you as an unattainable version of yourself, you may just look back at your photos as another “perfect” woman you strive to be. This experience is about celebrating where you are right now, not striving for an unattainable version of yourself.

Stretch, stretch, stretch! Posing is a key part of boudoir. We want you to feel as comfortable as possible, being warmed up is a great way to do that.
Practice posing in front of a mirror before your shoot. It helps get you comfortable with moving your body in ways that might feel unfamiliar. Boudoir often brings out hidden muscle strength, and that can feel a little overwhelming - so the more you practice, the more natural it will feel! Practice faces, parting your lips, and just extending your limbs!
